Progress Lighting: Can you describe the story of the community?

Doris Pearlman:
Inspiration is an active adult community built on an incredible site facing the Rocky Mountains, in Aurora, Colorado. It’s essentially a brand new community that has been tremendously successful.

Progress Lighting: Why was this a memorable project?

Doris: The project appealed to me in a significant way because we were able to use a combination of raw materials – such as stone walls, rugged wood flooring, live edge tables and unique urban lighting – with a neutral color palette.

The level of detail we achieved was truly remarkable. One of my favorite memory points, and a favorite of many potential buyers, is the living room of the Antero. This room originally posed a design challenge for us, as it was naturally a dark room. Our solution? The use of multiple Equinox pendants placed staggering each other to create more light and drama. The bead board and wood ceiling detail play off this ‘drama’ to compliment Progress Lighting’s fixtures and create even more interest.

It’s extremely momentous for us to watch the people we envisioned living in these model homes actually walking through the finished product and loving it!

Progress Lighting: Were there any special moments for you personally in designing these spaces?

Doris: Absolutely. First and foremost was hearing the overwhelming response about Inspiration, not only from potential homebuyers, but also from executives in the home building industry who are used to looking at an enormous amount of housing. It’s also extremely momentous for us to watch the people we envisioned living in these models actually walking through the finished product and loving it. We nailed it!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our series to get a tour of all 5 luxury model homes that make up the Inspiration community!
