Imagine creating a calming oasis, an environment as peaceful as a soft, flowing stream, as relaxing as a quiet forest – all within the comfort of your own kitchen.
Start by designing a space filled with touches from the outdoors – made beautiful by floral arrangements and natural materials. With a few key design decisions, you can create an organic kitchen that promotes an uncluttered, balanced lifestyle.
Consider a subtle color scheme with hues that are reminiscent of nature (think muted greens, simple blues and warm browns). Wild ferns, grasses and mosses are an excellent backdrop for wildflowers or cultivated blooms, especially those with soft tints of ivory, biscuit and green.
Bring in Stone:
Natural stone countertops, stoneware and even pebbles can be beautiful accents in the kitchen.
Take your cue from nature and embrace elements that further a raw and authentic style. A casual rather than clipped, free-flowing arrangement can be an impressive display of organic and rustic beauty.
The more natural light the better. Place an arrangement near a window or other source of light so that the changing moods of the day subtly – or dramatically – alter the look of leaves, stems and petals.
Red roses and tulips are pretty, but a handful of wild grasses mixed with garden blooms like the lacy tops of mop-head hydrangeas, have an artless, unfussy look that is utterly charming – and easily the focal point of room.
