We are excited to be heading to Vegas to exhibit at the 2014 International Builders Show (IBS). Since IBS is co-locating for the first time with the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS), we will be focusing especially on kitchen and bath lighting design trends.
A recent study completed by the interior design site Houzz found that kitchen and bath remodels are now a top priority for homeowners above all other rooms of the home. The study indicated that 28% of surveyed homeowners are planning a bathroom renovation in 2014, and 23% are planning a kitchen remodel or addition.
Enjoy a sneak peek of some of the top kitchen and bath lighting trends we’ll be discussing at the show. And if you’ll be in Vegas, we’ll see you at booth C3527!
Top Kitchen and Bath Trends for 2014
1. Incorporating green design into the home lighting plan.
LED and CFL lamps play a big role because they can pay for themselves through energy and maintenance savings, while providing aesthetically pleasing lighting.
2. Grouping pendants – and mini-pendants – for functional and decorative illumination in workspaces.
Pendants and mini-pendants allow consumers to take advantage of the popular trend to group two or more pendants over work areas, such as a kitchen island, bath and vanity area, stove or sink – for both aesthetic and functional benefits.
3. Implementing fixtures that emulate a classic, modern design.
The style to blend traditional and contemporary details to create a modern, classic look is popular among homeowners. This trend supports simpler lines than traditional – but a more elaborate style than contemporary.
4. Using space more efficiently in open layouts.
Open interior spaces require the need for a layered lighting design that accounts for ambient, accent and task lighting.
